Obituary

WORCESTER- Edward J. Fernane, 81, of Worcester, died Friday, September 4 in Holy Trinity Nursing Center after a long illness. He leaves two sisters, Bernice M. Barry and her husband John of Worcester, Joan M. Garson of Worcester and her daughter, whom he raised, Joanne K. Hadlock, who took special care of him and loved him very much, and her husband Tim and their children, Tim, Jr. and Gretchen, a nephew whom he raised, Paul E. Garson of Worcester and his wife Kathleen. He also leaves a nephew Stephen M. Barry and his wife Linda and their daughters, Ashley, Emilee, Allyson and Liz all of Leicester, a niece, Kathy A. Card and her husband Roland and their daughters, Nicole and Leeann all of Paxton, and a nephew, James E. Barry and his wife Elizabeth of Worcester.
He was born in Worcester, the son of Edward J. and Bernice E. (Nanatovich) Fernane and served a tour in the Army. Ed worked for New England Telephone Company for many years. After retiring, he taught himself how to read and write Japanese and later moved there for several years to teach Japanese children how to speak english. He was a very loving, caring and thoughtful man and he loved classical music. The family would like to thank the Holy Trinity Nursing Center and their hospice team for the wonderful care that Ed received.
