Jack (John Stofer) Price Sr., 78, husband of Cornelia “Connie” Price, died Monday, August 31, 2009 at Hosparus.
Born in Louisville, Kentucky, he was the son of the late Stephen and Margaret Price and was a longtime member of the Valley Station Church of Christ. He served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean Conflict and was awarded Good Conduct, National Defense Service and China Service Medals. Jack spent most of his life in the grocery business, having worked at A&P for 22 years, Melton Food Mart for 25 years and, most recently, Trauth Dairy for 12 years.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his son, John S. Price II.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 53 years, the former Cornelia Willett; daughters, Libby Sherrill (Jim), Peggy Meredith (Darrell) and Janie Mehaffey (Matt); brothers, Steve, Jim, Michael and Maurice Price; sisters, Thelma Phelps and Margie Dischinger; six grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; an expected great-granddaughter; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
His funeral service will be noon Friday at Owen Funeral Home, 5317 Dixie Highway with inurnment to follow at Evergreen Cemetery.
Visitation will be 2-8 pm Thursday.
