Zara Mai Roberts Pipkin, 92, passed away on Tuesday, September 1, 2009, at her home in Water Valley, MS. She was born in Yalobusha County, MS to the late Ernest Weston and Jessie Hendrix Roberts. She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Coffeeville, MS. Zara Mai devoted her life to her family and friends. She was a skilled seamstress and an avid gardener. In her later years she spent her time quilting and painting pictures of nostalgic country scenes, birds and flowers.
A visitation will be held Thursday, September 3, 2009 from 5 to 7 pm at Seven Oaks Funeral Home in Water Valley, MS. The funeral service will be held Friday, September 4, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. in Henry Chapel of Seven Oaks Funeral Home in Water Valley, MS with Bro. Billy McCord officiating. The committal will take place in Goshen Cemetery in Coffeeville, MS with Greg Adams, Joseph Adams, Troy LaCook, Dustin LaCook, Alex Pipkin, and Frank Pipkin serving as pallbearers.
Mrs. Pipkin is survived by two daughters, Marie Pipkin Adams (Bobby) of Water Valley, MS and Dorothy Pipkin LaCook of Water Valley, MS; a son, Donnie Gayle Pipkin (Amanda) of Coffeeville, MS; a sister, Ruth Roberts Barton of Indianola, MS; a brother, Herbert Roberts of Knoxville, TN; 10 grandchildren; 24 great grandchildren and 8 great-great grandchildren.
Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husbands, Alexander Pipkin and Littleton Pipkin; a son, Weston Pipkin, and a grandson, Kemp Pipkin.
