Mrs. Mary Margaret ‘Peg’ (Kelly) Vacca, of Worcester, died Tuesday morning, September 1, 2009 in her home. She was 78.
Peg was born April 8, 1931 in Worcester a daughter of the late Timothy J. and Mary M. (Haran) Kelly. She graduated from St. Stephen’s High School and St. Vincent Hospital School of Nursing. She also attended both Boston College and Assumption College.
Peg worked for over 40 years as a staff nurse and discharge planning nurse manager at St. Vincent Hospital before retiring. She was a member of St. Stephen’s Church and The St. Vincent Hospital Alumni Association.
Peg loved to travel and did so extensively throughout the world. She also enjoyed reading and spending time with her nieces and nephews.
Her husband, Robert A. Vacca died in 1981. She is also predeceased by a step-son, Robert A. Vacca Jr., her brother, Timothy J. Kelly, sister, Helen T. Gill and nephew, John P. Gill.
She leaves two step-sons, Richard P. Vacca and Donald J. Vacca, both of Worcester; her brother-in-law, Edward J. Gill of Worcester and sister-in-law, Carole (Paladino) Kelly of Worcester; eleven nieces and nephews; seventeen great nieces and nephews.
The family expresses many thanks to AseraCare Hospice of Marlborough for the wonderful care they gave to Peg and her family.
The funeral will be Friday, September 4th from Callahan-Fay Brothers Funeral Home, 61 Myrtle Street with a Mass at 11:00AM in Saint Stephen’s Church, 357 Grafton Street. Interment will be in St. John’s Cemetery. Visiting hours will be Friday morning from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. in the funeral home.
