Roberta "Babs" (Campbell) Erikson, a 47 year resident of Wakefield, died on Monday, August 31, 2009, at Elmhurst Nursing Home in Melrose following a courageous battle with lymphoma. She was 83 years old.
Babs was born in Boston on October 2, 1925. She grew up in Brighton where she attended Boston Public Schools and graduated from Brighton High School. She also graduated from Forsyth Dental School and worked for many years as a dental assistant and a secretary at a local dentist office. Babs loved to play bridge and was a member of the Bridge Club at the Council of Aging in Wakefield. Babs was a member of the Second Congregational Church of Beverly.
Babs is the beloved wife of 55 years to Leonard O. "Len" Erikson. She is the loving mother of Peter Erikson of Wakefield. She is the beloved daughter of the late Robert and Ethel (Priestly) Erikson. She is the beloved sister of Ruth Harbison of Florida, Winifred Gruninger of New Jersey and the late Sam Campbell and Florence Lang. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend visiting hours from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. followed by a Funeral Service for Roberta at 12:30 p.m. on Friday, September 4, 2009, in The Carr Funeral Home, 1159 Main Street, WAKEFIELD/MELROSE line. Burial will take place at ForestDale Cemetery, Malden.
