THOMAS, LORA "NELL," 76, returned to her Heavenly Father on Sunday, August 30, 2009 with her daughters by her side.
She was preceded in death by her husband Arthur "Gip" Thomas.
Those left to cherish her memory are her daughters, Sharon Crumpton (Rick) and Deborah Crum (Frank); grandsons, Christopher Crumpton (Kristen) and Micheal Alvey (Leslie); great-grandchildren, Ella, Shelby, Michael and Nolan; brother, Van Adams; sister-in-law, Dean Dall (George), as well as a host of many nieces, nephews, and friends.
She was a member of South Jefferson Baptist Church, where over the years she taught Sunday school, vacation bible school, and was the church clerk.
She retired after more than 40 years of services from Executive Inn East.
Over the last two years she fought a courageous battle with cancer. She had many obstacles to overcome and like the lady she was she handled them with great dignity.
If you had a hand in caring for our Mother we thank you. She always picked her favorites (and you know who you are). You are all very special to us and we will not forget you. Special thanks to Four Courts Senior Center, Norton Hosparus Inpatient Unit, and Dr. Vijay Raghavan.
Funeral will be Wednesday at 1 p.m. at Owen Funeral Home, 5317 Dixie Hwy., with burial in Bethany Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday from 2-8 p.m. and Wednesday after 10 a.m. at Owen Funeral Home. Online condolences at owenfuneralhome.com
