Rose Matzelle, 94, of Derry died Monday August 11, 2003 in the Haven Health Center, Derry. Mrs. Matzelle was born in Brooklyn, NY on August 18, 1908 the daughter of the late Frank and Mary (Koenig) Schemitz. She was employed by the Marsh & McClennan Company in New York City. Following retirement she resided in Newtown, Conn, where she was an avid gardner. She later moved to Derry in 1982. She was predeceased by her husbands, Frank Sabella in 1973 and Andrew Matzelle in 1981.
She is survived by her son, Joseph Sabella and his wife Norma of Derry, three grandchildren, Marion Scichilone of Rancho Santa Margarita, Ca, Margaret Chanthavong of Bloomington, MN, Paul T. Sabella of Candia and one great grandson.
A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Monday August 18th at 10:00am in St. Thomas Aquinas Church, Crystal Ave., Derry with cremation to follow. Private burial will be in Calverton, NY at a later date. Friends may call on Sunday from 2 - 5pm in the Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 15 Birch St., Derry. Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of one’s choice.
