George Francis Altman, 57, of New Bedford died Monday August 11, 2003 unexpectedly at St. Luke's Hospital in New Bedford.
Born in New Bedford, the son of Jeanne (Desjeunes) Altman of New Bedford and the late Thomas G. Altman, he lived in New Bedford for most of his life.
Mr. Altman was formerly employed as a commercial fisherman of various vessels out of the Port of New Bedford.
He was a member of the New Bedford Fishermen's Union.
Survivors include his mother; 4 sons, David Altman of New Bedford, Ryan Altman of Florida, Thomas Altman of Rhode Island, and Ian Altman of California; 2 brothers, Robert Desjeunes and Wayne Altman, both of New Bedford; 4 sisters, Prudence Goyette, Donna Manning, and Cookie Altman, all of New Bedford, and Robin Sherman of Rochester; and many nieces and nephews.He was the brother of the late Achiel Altman.
His Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday August 27, 2003 at 9 AM in St. Lawrence Church. Visiting hours are omitted.
