Obituary

Allen T. Vaughan, 89, of Dartmouth died August 29, 2009 at St. Luke's Hospital after a long illness.
He was the husband of Doris (Mulcairns) Vaughan.
Born in Mattapoisett, the son of the late Arthur and Alice (Davenport) Vaughan, he lived in New Bedford most of his life before moving to Dartmouth 24 years ago.
Mr. Vaughan was a communicant of St. Mary's Church in Dartmouth.
He attended the Dartmouth Council of Aging in Dartmouth where he enjoyed playing the organ and participated in the Key Note Chorus playing at local nursing homes.
He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
Survivors include his wife; a son, Allen Vaughan, Jr. and his wife Diana of New Bedford; 2 grandchildren, Cathy Bergeron and James Vaughan and his wife Michelle; 4 great-grandchildren, Joshua Vaughan, Jennifer Freitas, Tabitha Vaughan and Alana Bergeron; numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral from the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford Tuesday, September 1st at 10 AM. Funeral Mass at St. Mary's Church, South Dartmouth at 11 AM. Burial will follow in The Massachusetts National Cemetery. Visiting hours will be on Monday, August 31st from 4-8 PM.
