William M. Atkinson, 73, of Fairfield Ave., Tiverton, RI passed away Tuesday, August 25, 2009 at home after a brief illness. He was the husband of Carol A. Manchester.
Born in Fall River, son of the late Chester W. and Ellen T. (Moore) Atkinson, he had lived in Tiverton for most of his life. A Korean War veteran, he served his country in the United States Army. Mr. Atkinson was a truck driver for many years.
Including his wife, survivors include 4 sons: William M. Atkinson of FL, Duane M. Atkinson of Portsmouth, RI, Michael W. Atkinson of Dartmouth and Barry S. Atkinson of FL; 2 daughters: Donna J. Morgan of Tiverton and Vivianne D. LaGue of CO; a brother: Paul Atkinson of Fall River; 2 sisters: Carol Fournier of Fall River and Joan Atkinson of Fall River; 15 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
He was brother of the late Kenneth Atkinson.
Funeral to which relatives and friends are invited will be Sunday, August 30, 2009 at the Potter Funeral Home at 3:30 P.M.
Calling hours will be from 2 - 3:30 P.M. prior to the service.
Interment will be private at the convenience of the family.
