Elizabeth (Croy) Fitzgerald, a lifelong resident of Andover and beloved wife of the late Frederick P. Fitzgerald, died at the Academy Manor Nursing Center in Andover on Tuesday, August 18, 2009. She was 94 years old.
Born in Andover, Elizabeth was the beloved daughter of the late Andrew and Agnes (Hodge) Croy.
Mrs. Fitzgerald was a lifelong member of the Free Christian Church of Andover and loved to read and do needlework. Above all, Elizabeth was a real family person, always putting her family first.
She will be sorely missed by three daughters and two sons-in-law; Jane and her husband Michael J. Bailey of Newport, Rhode Island, Virginia Johnson and her companion Gee Lauder, both of Mesa, Arizona and Catherine F. and her husband Marshall Meeks of Acton, six grandchildren; Kelly, Michele, Jennifer, Amy, Jesse and Sarah, six great-grandchildren; Betheny, Kaileigh, Reilly, Cassidy, Tristin and Terence. Great aunt of Peter and Joseph Auchterlonie and several cousins, including William Hodge of Vermont. Elizabeth was also the loving sister of the late Catherine Marcille and James Croy.
Calling hours were held in the Burke-Magliozzi Funeral Home, 390 North Main Street, Andover, Friday, August 28, 2009, from 4 to 7 PM. Her Memorial Service will be celebrated in the funeral home, Saturday, September 12, 2009 at 11 AM. Burial will be private.
