LOWELL—John L. ‘Jack’ McHale, Jr. 73 years old, died early Friday morning at Saints Memorial Medical Center. He was the beloved husband of Judy A. (Keohane) McHale, with whom he celebrated 47 years of marriage last October 3rd.
He was born in Lowell, on May 20, 1930, a son of the late John L. and Doris (Hill) McHale, and was a graduate of Lowell High School, Class of 1949.
Mr. McHale served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. Upon his discharge, he was employed as a Field Investigator by the Division of Employment Security, in Lowell, until his retirement. He also worked at the Indian Ridge Country Club, in Andover.
He was a longtime Callery Park Little League Baseball Coach, and belonged to the Musicians Union, Local #300. He also held membership at Long Meadow Golf Club and Mount Pleasant Golf Club. He was an avid golfer and former baseball player, under Stan Stocklosa.
Surviving him besides his wife are three sons and daughters-in-law: James P. and Suzanne McHale, of Pelham, NH; John G. and Marcy McHale, of Haverhill; and Daniel J. and Colleen McHale, of Dracut; two daughters and sons-in-law: Mary and David Dowling, of Hudson, NH; and Annmarie and Thomas Tierney, of Hudson, NH; eleven grandchildren: Jenna, Michael, Emily, Rebecca, Kaleigh and Patrick McHale; Lindsey and Kristen Dowling; Kaitlyn, Kevin and Thomas Tierney; nine brothers and sisters and their spouses: Patricia Moffett, of Lowell; Joanne Dougherty, of Londonderry, NH; Janet and Jack Donahue, of Chelmsford; Sharon and James O’Brien, of Los Altos, CA; Martha and George Merritt, of Tewksbury; Nancy and John Stevens, of Boston; Donald and Paula McHale, of Tyngsboro; Norbert and Renee McHale, of Nashua, NH; and Kathleen Broderick, of South Boston; one uncle: Edward McHale, of Nashua, NH; also many nieces and nephews.
He was the brother of the late: Maureen Van Siclen, Barbara Randall, Sheila Connors and Paula McHale; and the brother-in-law of the late: Bob Van Siclen, Dave Randall, Ted Connors, James Moffett and Harvey Dougherty.
Friends may call from 3 until 8 PM on Monday, August 11th, at the MAHONEY FUNERAL HOME, 187 Nesmith Street, (Rte. 38). His Funeral Mass to be offered Tuesday morning, August 12th, at 10 AM at ST.
