Obituary

Gordon R. Thompson, 66, died Saturday evening, August 22, 2009 at Beverly Hospital.
Born in Gloucester on Oct. 10, 1942, he was the son of the late Ralph and Madelyn (Venot) Thompson III. He was raised and educated in Gloucester and had been a Beverly resident since 1998.
Mr. Thompson was employed by Gorton’s of Gloucester for several years before relocating to Las Vegas, NV, where he was employed for many years as a head runner at the Frontier Casino.
He will be remembered for his sense of humor, kindness of heart, and great gift as an artist. He loved reading, fishing, and family and was always willing to lend a hand to others. A truly kind and giving man, he will be sadly missed for his goodness.
He is survived by three brothers, Donald Thompson and his wife Diane of FL, David Thompson of Lynnfield, and Phillip Poor of CA, his cousin and dear friend, Pam Nolan and her husband John of Danvers, and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sister, Marilyn Susanno, and his brother, Bernard Thompson.
Visiting hours will be held Wednesday, August 26, 2009 from 6-8PM in C.R. Lyons & Sons, Funeral Directors, 28 Elm St., Danvers Square. Funeral and burial services will be held privately. In lieu of flowers, donations in Mr. Thompson’s name may be made to the North Suburban Dialysis Center, 124 Broadway, Saugus, MA 01906.
