Obituary

Doris F. Ethier, 102, died Thursday evening at The Holiday in Manville. She was the wife of the late Felix Ethier who died in 1982.
Born in Woonsocket, she was a daughter of the late Alexandre and Georgiana (Dion) Blanchette. She was a lifelong resident of the city.
Mrs. Ethier worked for several textile firms in the city, including the French Wosted and Doray Textiles. She previously was in the employ of the family of the late Judge Demers.
Mrs. Ethier was a member of the St. Germaine Manor Club and the Royal Travelers.
Doris created beautiful crochet pieces and derived great joy from sharing her talent with family and friends.
She is survived by a son, Paul Ethier, and his wife Judith, of Burrillville, and a daughter Claire Davison, and her husband Jackie, of North Smithfield. Her sisters, Edna Boudreau of North Smithfield, Hilda Girard and Alice Pretto both of Woonsocket, and Florence Jalette of North Smithfield. She is also survived by 19 grandchildren, 34 great-grandchildren, 23 great-great grandchildren, and several generations of nieces and nephews and their families. She was the mother of the late Jeanne Davison, and was predeceased by many other siblings from her family of 17 children.
Her funeral will be Tuesday at 9:00 am from the Menard Funeral Home, 127 Carrington Ave., Woonsocket, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am in Our Lady Queen of Martyrs Church, Park Ave. Woonsocket. Burial will follow in Precious Blood Cemetery, Woonsocket. Visiting hours are Monday from 5-8 pm. Memorial donations may be made to the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Pl. Memphis, TN., 38105.
