Funeral from the J. Frank Conley Funeral Home, 138 Belmont Street, (Rte 123) Brockton, Tuesday at 8am. Funeral Mass in St. Edith Stein Church at 9am. Burial in Calvary Cemetery. Helen I. (Selila) Kelly, wife of over 60 years of the late retired Brockton Deputy Fire Chief John W. Kelley, died Friday at Caritas Good Samaritan Medical Center following a brief illness. She was 82.
Born and raised in Brockton, daughter of the late August and Mary (Pawlukiewicz) Selila, she was a 1936 graduate of Brockton High School. She was a devoted communicant of Our Lady of Ostrobrama Church until its closure, at which time she became a member of St. Edward Church, now St. Edith Stein.
After she retired as a supervisor from Herman’s Inc. of Avon, she enjoyed extensive traveling, gardening and reading. Because she and her husband returned often to Aruba, they formed many friendships over the years during their stays.
Mrs. Kelley is survived by two daughters, Gail Bisio of Raynham and Nancy Fogg of Brockton, a son Lawrence Kelley of Brockton, seven grandchildren, six great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. She was also the mother of the late John W. Kelley Jr., sister of the late Joseph A. Selila, and great grandmother of the late Sydney Abroms.
