Madeleine Hassell Lyle, 98, Clarksville, died Sunday, August 16, 2009, at Gateway Medical Center. The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Neal-Tarpley Chapel with Rev. Jacqueline Martin and Rev Ellis Felts officiating. Burial will be in Palmyra United Methodist Church Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday and from 9 a.m. until the hour of the service Wednesday at the funeral home. Neal-Tarpley Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. She was born October 13, 1910 in Dickson County, TN daughter of the late James Brake Hassell and Minnie Belle Warfield Hassell. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Henry Lyle, Sr., all of her sisters: Cordy Hassell, Wilda Hickerson, Ella B. Binkley, Jewell Davis, and Mary Alleen Hassell; brothers, Gene Hassell and Floyd Hassell; children, J.B. Proctor and Bootsie Ramsey; grandson, Gary Brothers; and great-grandson, Jerry Patterson. Ms. Lyle was a seamstress. She was a member of Palmyra United Methodist Church for more than 30 years. She is survived by one brother, Charles E. "Toad" Hassell, Cookeville, TN; two granddaughters, Carol DePriest, California, and Cynthia Levall, Clarksville; great-grandchildren, David Patterson, Mary Matos, Leah Elmquist, Laurel Parkratz, Stephanie Blake, and Adam Brothers; great-great-grandchildren, Dustin Patterson, Randall Patterson, David Patterson, II, Tiffany Saez, John Patterson, Isabella Garner, Silas Pankratz, Eisley Pankratz, and Ella Bee Blake. Through her marriage to Henry Lyle,Sr, she was blessed with another family of her own: one stepson, John Lyle (Lib), Trenton, KY; two step-daughters, Sue Hunt (Asa), Clarksville, Mary Kentner (Paul), Rome, GA; step-grandchildren, Donnie Hunt (Ann), Buddy Hunt (Brenda), Rhonda Tackett (Doug) and Family, and Gerald, Fay, and Rusty Funk. Pallbearers will be Eric Fish, Dough Tackett, Eddie Hickerson, Donnie Hunt, Sam Binkley, and Jeff Davis.
