Jean M. (Catalano) Robbins, a resident of Weston since 2008, and a former 15 year resident of New Hampshire and longtime resident of Wakefield, died on Sunday, August 16, 2009, at Lahey Clinic Medical Center in Burlington following an extended illness. She was 76 years old.
Jean was born in Boston on July 2, 1933. She grew up in Wakefield where she attended Wakefield Public Schools and graduated from Wakefield High School in 1952. Jean worked for 31 years as a District Assistant in the sales support division for the telephone company yellow pages. She was a member of the Communications Workers of America Local # 1302 and retired in 1997. She enjoyed sewing and was considered a seamstress by many. She also loved animals and would foster stray cats and dogs.
Jean is the beloved wife of the late Joseph A. Robbins Jr. She is the devoted mother of Joseph J. Robbins and his wife Mary of York, South Carolina, Karen Thibeault and her husband David of Fitchburg, Cynthia J. Robbins of Newmarket, New Hampshire, and Kimberly Plourde and her husband Rick of East Kingston, New Hampshire. She is the loving Nana to Lori-Anne, Joseph, Frank, Jennifer, Eric, Sean and "GG" to Kayla, Joseph, Christopher, Helina and Alessandra. She is the beloved sister of Lillian D'Amelio of Jupiter, Florida and James Catalano of Port Richie, Florida. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend visiting hours on Wednesday August 19, 2009 from 4 to 7 p.m. followed by Jean's Funeral Service at 7 p.m. in The Carr Funeral Home, 1159 Main Street, Wakefield/Melrose line. Burial will be private.
