Inez Clements Thompson, 86, of Tifton died Sunday, August 16, 2009, at Golden Living Center. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, August 18, 2009, at Mount Zion Baptist Church in Chula. Rev. Larry Layfield and Rev. Kenneth Kicklighter will officiate with burial to follow in Mount Zion Baptist Church Cemetery. Donald Jones, Hulen Jones, Derrick Jones, Reid Jones, Keith Jones and Scott Jones will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be the Senior Adult Ladies Sunday school Class of Mount Zion Baptist Church. The family will receive friends on Monday, August 17, 2009, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals and from 10:00 a.m. until the hour of the service on Tuesday, August 18, 2009, at Mount Zion Baptist Church. The body will be placed in the church one hour prior to the service.
Mrs. Thompson was born on September 19, 1922 in Tift County and was the daughter of John William Clements and Jessie Roberts Clements, both deceased. She was also preceded in death by her step-mother, Debbie Bryant Clements; three brothers, Bill Clements, Lewis Clements and Bobby Clements; two sisters, Thelma Thurmond and Louise Clements; and one grandson, Tate Thompson. She was a homemaker and a member of Mount Zion Baptist Church in Chula. She was a life-long resident of Tift County.
Mrs. Thompson is survived by her husband, Mason Wilson Thompson of Tifton; two sons and daughters-in-law, James Mason and Ellen Thompson of Chattanooga, Tennessee and Robert Lee and Jane Thompson of Tifton; two brothers, Clarence Clements of High Springs, Florida and John C. Clements of Decatur; one sister, Lucy Clements of Winter Haven, Florida; two grandchildren and their spouses, Todd and LeiAnn Thompson of Tifton and Mandy Thompson Folkerts and her husband, Jeff, of Atlanta; and one great grandson, Mason Scott Folkerts of Atlanta.
In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to the Mount Zion Baptist Building Fund of Hospice of Tiftarea.
