Mrs. Nina J. Rucker White was born April 25, 1932 in Coffeeville, MS to the late Leara Moody Harris and Andrew J. Rucker. She departed this life August 16, 2009 at Yalobusha County General Hospital in Water Valley, MS.
She accepted Christ at an early age and joined Everdale M. B. Church in Water Valley, MS, where she served many years on the usher board. She was united in holy matrimony to the late Mr. Calvin White. To this union, four children were born. Before her health failed, she was employed with Holley Automotive, which is now Borg Warner, for 25 years.
A visitation will be held at Seven Oaks Funeral Home from 5 to 7 p.m. on Friday, August 21, 2009. The funeral service will take place Saturday, August 22, 2009 at Everdale M. B. Church in Water Valley, MS at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Phillip Brackett officiating. The committal will be in Oak Ridge Cemetery in Water Valley, MS with Johnny Wayne Turner, Terry Brown, Jeff White, Bobby Phillips Sr., Bobby Phillips, Jr. Roger Caldwell, and Bobby Turner serving as active pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers are Darnell C. White, Waymond White, Matt Simmons, and Steve Allen.
She leaves to cherish her memories: five children, Ethel Mae Turner (Stacy) of Water Valley, MS, Ethel Simmons (Mat) of Oxford, MS, Darnell Calvert White of Water Valley, MS and Waymond White (Betty) of Water Valley, MS; Dale Allen (Steve) of Water Valley, MS; two sisters, Gloria Polk Ford of Waterloo, Iowa and Lillie Watkins of Chicago, IL; one brother, Jessie Rucker of Chicago, Illinois; two brother-in-laws, John Ford of Waterloo, Iowa and R. V. Toliver of Cleveland, Ohio; 25 grandchildren, 35 great grandchildren, 20 great-great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
She was preceded in death by her lovely husband, Calvin White; a sister, Pearlie Mae Toliver; a brother, Allen Rucker, a daughter, Katie Mae Hervey; a son, John Thomas White; and a granddaughter, Camille Morgan.
