Gracia Marnell Atkinson, 81, Clarksville, died Saturday, August 15, 2009, at her residence. The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Mullins Funeral Home, Clintwood, Virginia with Kenneth Childress officiating. Burial will be in Swindell Cemetery, Osborn's Gap, Virginia. Visitation will be from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday at Neal-Tarpley Funeral Home and from 12 p.m. until the hour of the service Tuesday at Mullins Funeral Home. Neal-Tarpley Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. She was born November 6, 1927 in Blue Diamond, Ky daughter of the late William Allen France and Draxie Swindell France. She was a member of New Providence Methodist Church, a member of Order of Eastern Star, Past Worthy Matron, and Order of the Amaranth, Past Royal Matron. Survivors include her husband, Robert Atkinson; sons, George Raymond Mullins, Clintwood, VA; and Ronald Kazee, Clarksville; daughter, Susan Lynch, Clarksville; three step-children; sisters, Alois V. Dotson, and B. Joyce Casebolt, both of Clintwood, VA; fourteen grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a sister, June Greer.
