Beatrice L. (Rivard) Kelley, 98, of Medway, died Tuesday, August 11, 2009 at the Medway Country Manor Nursing Home. She was the wife of Raymond T. Kelley who died in 1995.
Born in Bellingham on October 3, 1910, she was a daughter of the late Peter J. and Bertha (Briere) Rivard. Mrs. Kelley grew up in the Caryville section of Bellingham and has been a resident of Medway since the early 1930’s.
She graduated from Milford High School in 1928 and Burdett College in 1930.
Mrs. Kelley retired at the age of 86 from Suzi’s Bridal Shop in Holliston where she had been a bookkeeper for many years. She had formerly worked at the Cronin & Gartland Co. in Boston.
Mrs. Kelley was a communicant of St. Joseph’s Church and was a member of the Sodality of Our Lady. She loved to travel and shop and enjoyed ballroom dancing with her friends. She cherished time spent with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Survivors include her son, Raymond F. Kelley of Medway and her sister, Rita Flood of Milford. She is also survived by sixteen grandchildren, forty-one great-grandchildren, nine great-great-grandchildren, a nephew, William Potenza of Medway and two nieces, Mary Porazzo and Madonna Donahue, both of Milford.
She was the mother of the late Joan L. Schreffler and Robert V. Kelley, sister of the late Annette Potenza and the Rev. Robert Rivard and grandmother of the late Peter Schreffler.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend her funeral on Saturday, August 15 from the Ginley-Crowley Funeral Home, 3 Barber St. in Medway at 9:15 a.m. followed by a funeral Mass at St. Joseph’s Church, 151 Village St. in Medway at 10 a.m.
Burial will follow at St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Medway.
Calling hours will be held on Friday from 5 – 8 p.m.
