Obituary

Robert F. Comeau, 88 years, of Brockton, died August 11, 2009, at his home surrounded by his family, following a lengthy battle with Cancer. He was the husband of the late Gladys “Betty” (Walsh) Comeau. Mr. Comeau was born in Lynn, son of the late Alfred and Margaret (Comeau) Comeau. He was raised in Comeauville, Nova Scotia and at the age of 17 moved to Belmont, MA. During WWII he served with the US Army in the European Theatre and received the Purple Heart and Silver Star Good Conduct Medal after being wounded at the Battle of the Bulge. Following his military discharge, he started his life career with the railroad’s Boston Albany Railroad retiring in 1981 from Conrail as a conductor. He then retired to Port Orange, FL living there for 15 years before moving to Brockton. He enjoyed time with his children and grandchildren, bowling, the Red Sox, Patriots, playing cards and traveling. He was a volunteer at the Brockton Hospital for several years and a longtime member of the YMCA. He was the father of Linda Glover of Watertown, Susan Janson and Joanne Plante of Attleboro, Nancy Rodriguez, Diane Pestana and Joseph Comeau all of Brockton, Roberta Hallahan of Plymouth, Kathy Conners of Virginia Beach, VA, Carol Comeau of Easton, Robert Comeau of Chelmsford, Richard Comeau of Ft. Lauderdale, FL, Bernice Comeau of Pompano Beach, FL and the late Carol Grossi; brother of Phyllis Sloan of Comeauville, Nova Scotia, Albert Comeau of Mashpee, Ella Comeau of Mateghan, Nova Scotia, Paul Comeau, of Beleau’s Cove, Nova Scotia, Pauline Sawyer of Foxboro, Celeste Robichaud of Mateghan, Nova Scotia, Bernard Comeau and Anita LeBlanc of Comeauville, Nova Scotia, Charles Comeau of Montreal and the late Delina Halpin, Ira Comeau and Blanche LeBlanc He also leaves 43 grandchildren, 30 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral Service in the Conley Funeral Home, 138 Belmont Street, (Rte 123) Brockton Monday at 9am. Visiting Hours Sunday 2-6pm. Burial will be held at a later date at the Massachusetts National Cemetery.
