Doris A. (Barrows) Alden, 96, beloved mother, grandmother, great
grandmother and great great grandmother, died Sunday at LifeCare Center
of Leominster.
Doris was born in Fitchburg, March 23, 1913, the daughter of Ellon Leonard
and Effie (Barrows) Barrows and lived in Fitchburg most of her life. She
attended local schools. She worked as a manager for the former City
Cleaners. She retired in 1984.
Doris leaves her daughter Priscilla J. Hargraves of Fitchburg. She also
leaves her grandchildren and their spouses, Pamela and Donald Scipione,
John A. and Renee Hargraves, Douglas G. and Debra Hargraves and
Shelley A. Hargraves and sons,
Doris also leaves her great grandchildren Julie Hachey, Scott Newman,
Dustin Hargraves, Jennie Swanson, Michael Hargraves, Lauren Hargraves,
Jonathan Zukowski, Christopher Zukowski, Benjamin Scipione and
Matthew Scipione; also her great great grandchildren Kendra Hachey, Evan
Hachey, Ryan Swanson and Nathan Swanson. Many nieces and nephews.
Her husband of 73 years George Alden died April 16, 2007. One brother and
five sisters also predeceased her.
Doris was a 40 year member of Rollstone Congregational Church. She
loved to crochet, knit and read. She especially enjoyed vacationing in Lake
Placid, N.Y. She had a great love for her grandchildren, great grandchildren
and great great grandchildren. She will be greatly missed by all who knew
her and loved her.
Funeral services and burial for Doris will be private. Contributions in her
memory may be made to Rollstone Congregational Church Memorial Fund
