Laconia-----Helen M. (Hoyt) Terris, 88, formerly of 193 Pleasant Street, died at Genesis Eldercare Network-Laconia Center, on Sunday, August 9, 2009.
Mrs. Terris was born April 30, 1921 in Saugus, Mass., the daughter of Rudolph L. and Emma G. (Stickney) Hoyt. She had been a resident of Laconia since 1963. A pioneering entrepreneur and respected local businesswoman, she was founder and owner of Winnisquam Printing for twenty years. She sold the company and retired in 1987.
Mrs. Terris was a longtime member of the Laconia Altrusa Club.
Mrs. Terris is survived by three daughters, Rev. Patricia Terris Mayo, of Laconia, Carol Terris of Washington, D. C., Deputy Director of Budget for the Environmental Protection Agency, and Diane Terris and her husband, Harry Beck III, of Port Charlotte, Florida; one grandson, Les Terris, of Uithoorn, Holland; a brother, “Buddy” Donald Hoyt, of Rindge, N.H. and his children, Karen, Jeff and Billy and a sister, Marion Hoyt, of Albuquerque, New Mexico and two nieces, Linda and Susan. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by a son, George “Skip” E. Terris, in 2000.
Memorial calling hours will be held on Thursday August 13, 2009 from 4:00-7:00 pm at the Wilkinson-Beane-Simoneau-Paquette Funeral Home, 164 Pleasant Street, Laconia, N. H. using the Carriage House entrance.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, October 10, 2009 at 11:00AM at the Sanbornton Congregational Church UCC, Sanbornton Square, Sanbornton, N.H..
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Laconia Public Library, 695 Main Street, Laconia, N.H. 03246 or to the St. Vincent de Paul Society Food Pantry, 1269 Union Avenue, Lakeport, N.H. 03246.
