Obituary

Jacob “Jake” E. Ofcharsky passed away on August 7, 2009 at the Melrose Wakefield Hospital. He was 88 years old.

Born in Olyphant, PA, Jacob had been a resident of Malden for over 60 years. He was retired from the Malden Police Department where he had worked for 32 years. Jacob was an avid golfer and loved to travel with his wife. He also loved fishing and listening to music. Jacob served in the U.S. Navy during WWII and was a member of the V.F.W., the Malden Moose and the Polish American Club in Chelsea.

Jacob was the devoted husband of Connie (Castrucci) Ofcharsky of Malden and the beloved father of Edward Ofcharsky and his wife Patricia of Wakefield, Maryann Ayers and her husband Robert of Acton and Deborah Ofcharsky of Malden. He was the dear brother of Eleanor Glovinski of CT, Mary Zaleski of CT, Josephine Sienkiewicz of FL, Stanley Ofcharsky of PA, George Owczarski of PA and the late Ann Ofcharsky, John Ofcharsky and Rosemarie Sostak. Jacob was the grandfather of Michael, Nicole and Julie Ofcharsky and Tara Christie, Jillian, Carolyn and Kristin Ayers. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

The Funeral will be held from the A. J. Spadafora Funeral Home, 865 Main Street, Malden on Tuesday, August 11th at 11:00 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Joseph’s Church, 770 Salem Street, Malden at 12:00 noon. Visiting hours are Monday, August 10th from 4-8 p.m. Interment Holy Cross Cemetery, Malden.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Jacob’s memory may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-1942.
