SALEM - Ethel G. (Webb) Weston, 94, formerly of Salem, wife of the late Harry E. “Red” Weston, died Thursday, August 6, 2009 at the Phillips Manor Nursing Home, Lynn.

Born in Danvers, she was the daughter of the late Chester and Mary (Arnold) Webb and was a resident of Salem for most of her life. During her youth, she was active with the Girl Scouts of the USA. Ethel was the first person in the State of Massachusetts to be licensed as an LPN. In her younger years, she worked at local nursing homes and did some private duty work. But mostly, throughout her life, she devoted her time to her family as well as, in these past years, to her extended family of care givers at the St. Theresa House in Lynn.

Ethel’s family would like to send a special thank you to the loving and caring staff of Phillips Manor Nursing Home, Lynn, who provided Ethel’s care with compassion and dignity during her last months. The family is forever grateful for their kindness.

Mrs. Weston is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Donald and Joyce Weston of Lynn, five grandchildren and their spouses, Keith and Kathy Weston, Christie and Dale Titus, Terry Saunders, Karen Elden, Russell Wiedemann, six great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was the mother of the late Carolyn Wiedemann and sister of the late Arthur Webb.

Her funeral service will be held Tuesday, August 11, 2009 at 11 am in the Full-Spychalski Funeral Home, 84 Washington Square East, by Salem Common, Salem. A visitation will be held Tuesday morning for 10 to 11, prior to the service. Relatives and friends respectfully invited. Burial is in Walnut Grove Cemetery, Danvers.
