Eugene F. “Okie” O’Connor 73 years, of West Bridgewater the beloved husband for 51 years of Grace (Wright) O’Connor died Sunday August 2, 2009 at BayPointe Rehabilitation Center in Brockton after a brief illness. Mr. O’Connor was born and raised in Stoughton a son of the late Michael E. and Charlotte (McLellan) O’Connor. During the Vietnam Era he served in the US Army stationed in Korea.
Mr. O’Connor retired from International Manufacturing Services, Inc. Portsmouth, RI, in 2000 as Vice President of research and development. Previously he had worked at Sylvania in Waltham.
Mr. O’Connor had lived in Plympton for 25 years before moving to Mesa, Arizona. He and his wife returned to Massachusetts 3 years ago to make their home with their daughter Joanne in West Bridgewater. Mr. O’Connor enjoyed working around his home and traveled extensively with his wife to the western states and Hawaii.
In addition to his wife he is survived by his loving children Peter E. O’Connor and his partner Laurene Ellis of Brockton and Joanne M. Keith of West Bridgewater. He was the proud grandfather of Tara J. O’Connor of Bridgewater, Paul E. Keith, Katelyn M. Keith and Julie G, O’Connor all of W. Bridgewater. He is also survived by a sister Margaret St. Cyr of Brockton and a brother Edward W. O’Connor of Germany, several nieces, nephews and cousins.
