Mary Eileen Peters of Altoona died Aug. 2, 2009, at the home of her daughter, Patricia, and son-in-law, Richard Mahon, in Olyphant. She and her husband, Russell Bertrand Peters, had been married since June 6, 1942.
Born in Scranton, daughter of Joseph and Mary Clare Cuff Kearney, Eileen graduated from Scranton Central High School in 1937. Eileen would have been 90 years old on Aug. 19. She died surrounded by her family.
Also surviving are three children, John Russell Peters, Media; Patricia Eileen Mahon; and Mary Clare Pincus, Irvine, Calif.; five grandsons; three granddaughters; two great-grandsons; and a brother, Joseph, Midwest City, Okla.
She was also preceded in death by three sisters, Loretta McHale, Brooklyn, N.Y.; Eunice Rafalko and Alice Hudak, Scranton; and two brothers, John Kearney, Scranton; and Edward Kearney, Hoboken, N.J.
Services will be Tuesday at 7 p.m. at the Michael P. Glinsky Funeral Home, 129 Grant St., Olyphant. Visitation will be Tuesday, 5 to 7 p.m.
A funeral service will be held for Eileen on Wednesday at noon in Grace United Church of Christ, 2300 Eighth Ave., Altoona. Interment will be at Blair Memorial Park, Bellwood.
