Mrs. Helen Margaret (McLeod) Woodman of Malden died at the Bear Hill Nursing Center in Stoneham, Massachusetts, on Saturday evening, August 1, 2009. She was 98 years old.
Born in Somerville, Massachusetts, on February 6, 1911, she was the daughter of the late Howard H. and Mabel E. (Vaughn) McLeod. Mrs. Woodman had attended business school and had been employed by John Hancock Insurance Company, until her marriage. She was active in scouting and church activities and worked later in life as a nursing home activities director. In her spare time, she enjoyed arts and crafts and golf.
She was the loving mother of Wendell H. Woodman of Boston, Helen E. Harrington of Kearsarge, N.H. and Roy V. and his wife Janet E. Woodman of Millis, cherished sister of Howard McLeod of Warwick R.I. and the late Robert McLeod, mother-in-law of Alma Scacchi of Raymond, N.H. and the late William Harrington. Helen was also the dear grandmother of Christopher Woodman of North Hampton, Heather Crowley of Chester, New Hampshire, Kristen Faiola of Arlington, Jeffrey Woodman of Denver, Colorado and the late Scott Woodman and great-grandmother of Isabelle and Ava Crowley and Katherine, Natalie and Elizabeth Faiola.
Her funeral service was celebrated in the First Community United Methodist Church, 55 Otis Street, Medford, Wednesday, August 5, 2009, at 10 AM. Many relatives and friends were in attendance. Visiting hours were held in the Beals-Geake-Magliozzi Funeral Home, 29 Governors Avenue, Medford, Tuesday, August 4, 2009, from 4 to 7 PM. Interment was in Centre Cemetery, Pembroke.
