Obituary

TAUNTON - Adele E. (Gomez) White, 88, died peacefully at Morton Hospital on Sunday morning, August 2, 2009, after a long illness.
Wife of the late George F. White, she was born in Taunton to the late John R. and Mary I. (Vargas) Gomez.
She was also predeceased by her 14 sisters and brothers.
She was educated in Taunton schools and was a 1939 graduate of Taunton High School.
She retired in 1982 from the Payroll Office at the former Paul A. Dever State School.
She had also previously worked at Bay State Crucible Company, the former Frank R. Pero Insurance Agency, Glenwood Range, and New York Lace Store.
She was a former member of the Oakland Seniors and West Side Seniors and had been an active member of the former St. Paul’s Parish, now St. Andrew the Apostle Parish.
She is survived by her two daughters, Ann E. Levesque and her husband David, with whom she resided for the last six years; and Mary M. (Peg) Whowell and her husband Bruce. She also leaves her beloved grandchildren, Frederick Whowell and his wife Sarah (Savas), and Samantha W. (Whowell) Joyce and her husband Timothy; as well as her treasured great-granddaughter, Karsyn E. Joyce, whose smiles and laughter gave her much joy in the final year of her life.
She is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.
Her funeral will be held from the Silva Funeral Home, 80 Broadway, on Wednesday, Aug. 5th at 10 a.m. followed by a funeral mass at St. Andrew the Apostle Church, Tremont St. at 11 a.m.
Burial will be at St. Francis Cemetery.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend.
