Obituary

Florence Nora (Dowd) Foley, 95, of Medway, died peacefully surrounded by her children on Sunday, August 2, 2009 at the Ellis Nursing Center in Norwood. She was the beloved wife of John J. Foley who died in 1988.

Born in Boston on June 28, 1914, she was a daughter of the late Michael and Annie (Walsh) Dowd.

Mrs. Foley was a resident of Medway for over 25 years and formerly resided in the Jamaica Plain section of Boston.

A homemaker for most of her life, Mrs. Foley enjoyed bowling and listening to Irish music.

She especially cherished the time spent with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She is survived by her children, John G. Foley of Raynham, Edward P. Foley and his wife, Mary of Dedham, Francis X. Foley and his wife, Claire of West Roxbury, Kevin J. Foley and his wife, Helen of West Roxbury, Barbara A. Trufant and her husband, Paul of Medway and Patrick J. Foley of Mesa, AZ.

She is also survived by seventeen grandchildren, sixteen great-grandchildren and her sister, Mary McCarthy of Walpole.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend her funeral on Wednesday, August 5 from the Ginley-Crowley Funeral Home, 3 Barber St. in Medway at 9:15 a.m. followed by a funeral Mass at St. Joseph’s Church, 151 Village St. in Medway at 10 a.m.

Burial will follow at Mount Benedict Cemetery in West Roxbury.

Calling hours will be held on Tuesday from 4 – 8 p.m.
