Obituary

Maria Estela (Costa) Avila, 68, a longtime resident of Stoughton, died unexpectedly Friday, July 31 at the Good Samaritan Medical Center in Brockton. She was the wife of 50 years of Eduino Avila. Daughter of the late Daniel and Maria (Lidia) Costa, she was born and raised in Horta, Faial, Azores, Portugal. She came to Stoughton in 1968. Mrs. Avila was a sales associate for several years. In her free time she enjoyed cooking and spending time with her family and friends.
In addition to her husband, Mrs. Avila is survived by her children, Jisela Araujo and her husband Robert of Stoughton and Osvaldo Avila and his wife Dorothy of Taunton, as well as her grandchildren, Alexander Araujo and Brandon and Samantha Avila. She was the sister of James Costa and his wife Isilda, Carl Costa and his wife Genevieve and Daniel Costa and his wife Adelia all of Stoughton. She was the godmother of the late Carl Costa. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews and family in Portugal and Canada.
Funeral will be held from the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St. (Rt.27) Stoughton on Tuesday, August 4 at 9:30 AM followed by a Funeral Mass at Immaculate Conception Church, Stoughton at 10:30 AM. Visiting Hours Monday 4-8 PM. Burial will take place at Evergreen Cemetery, Stoughton.
