Obituary

Vito J. “Victor” Auterio, a long time Medford resident, died Friday at the Lawrence Memorial Hospital. He was 83.

Mr. Auterio was born and raised in Cambridge, the son of the late Anthony and the late Lucy (Casparino) Auterio. He served with the 10th Mountain Division during World War II and saw combat through the Apennines and Po Valley. He was awarded the Bronze Star Medal.

He was a yard foreman with the Boston and Maine Rail Road before his retiremnet, and belonged to the United Transportation Union, Local 0254

He is survived by his wife of more than 60 years Louise (Bocca) Auterio, sons Victor Auterio of IL, Kenneth Auterio of Chatham, daughters Janet Marchese and Nancy McCarthy Santapaola, both of Medford. He was the loving grandfather of 8 and great grandfather of 2.

He was the brother of Mary LaForrest and James Auterio of Cambridge, and the late Theodore, Connie, Frankie, Joseph, and Elizabeth Stockley.

Friends and relatives may visit Monday from 2-4 & 7-9 at the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., Medford.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in Sacred Heart Church, Medford, with the Rev. Robert J. Doherty celebrant, Tuesday at 10 AM.

Burial will follow at Mt. Auburn Cemetery, Cambridge.

It has been requested that in lieu of flowers contributions be made in Vito´s name to Feed the Homeless %Fr. Phil LaPlante, 27 Isabella St., Boston, MA 02116.
