Sally (Sherburne) Finn, 84, died peacefully at home with her family on July 28 after a brief illness. Beloved wife of Jay M. Finn, she was a lifetime resident of Winchester. Sally worked side-by-side as account manager at her husband’s downtown insurance agency from 1973 until they retired in 1999. Sally always had a smile and an understanding ear for the clients and brought a homespun, down-to-earth personal touch to the business. She is fondly remembered by the staff at Barry McHugh – Jay Finn agency where she and Jay were known to put in “guest appearances” during their retirement.
Daughter of Dr. William Haven Sherburne and Barbara Blank Sherburne, she was a 1943 graduate of Winchester High School and attended Garland Junior College. She was the sister of the late William Haven Sherburne, Jr. of Clearwater, Florida. She is survived by her husband, her brother Dale Sherburne of Winchester, her son Dr. Bradford Jay (Finn) Sherburne, her daughter-in-law Katherine Wickham and two grandchildren, Wyatt and Meredith Sherburne, all of West Hartford, Connecticut. A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, Aug. 28th in the First Congregational Church, 21 Church St. (on the Common), Winchester, at 1PM. Relatives and friends respectfully invited to attend.
