Laurane E. (Gushue) Violet, 63, of Fairhaven died July 27, 2009 at St. Luke's Hospital after a brief illness.
Born in Brooklyn, NY, the daughter of the late Timothy and Elizabeth (Murphy) Gushue, she lived in New Bedford since 1946 before recently moving to Fairhaven.
She was a communicant of St. Lawrence Church.
Laurane was formerly employed by St. Luke's Hospital.
She enjoyed spending time with her family and camping.
Survivors include her loving companion of 19 years, Adel "Ed" Saade of Fairhaven; 2 sons, Timothy Violet and his wife Victoria of New Bedford and Joseph Violet and his wife Tracy of Dartmouth; a daughter, Pamela McAlpine of New Bedford; 3 step-children, Tony Saade and his wife Maria and Rawad Saade and his fiancée Brandy all of Methuen and Roolla Khoury and her husband Gabie of Palm Beach, FL; 4 brothers, Charles Gushue and his wife Sandy of Long Beach, CA, Michael Gushue and his wife Marge of Sarasota, FL, William Gushue and his wife Marsha of New Bedford and John Gushue and his wife Denise of Freetown; a brother-in-law, Ted Young of Carver; 7 grandchildren, Ethan, Luke, Sydney, Mitchell and Marissa Violet, Tyler McAlpine and Kaleigh Wilson; 7 step-grandchildren, Roland, Maranda, Kyle, Francesca, Angelo, Sarah and Taly; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was the mother of the late Nicholas E. Violet, Jr., sister of the late Mary Young and the former wife of the late Nicholas E. Violet.
Funeral from the Saunders-Dwyer Home For Funerals, 495 Park St. New Bedford Friday, July 31st at 9 AM. Funeral Mass at St. Lawrence Church at 10 AM. Visiting hours Thursday, July 30th from 5-8.
