Tilton-----Mr. Francis “Zim” Zimmerman, 77, of the New Hampshire Veterans Home, Tilton, N.H. died on Thursday, July 23, 2009 at the Lakes Region General Hospital, Laconia after a lengthy illness.
Zim was born, the son of Walter and Irene (Derr) Zimmerman of Jansen, Nebraska, on November 18, 1931. He spent his youth in Jansen where he grew up and graduated from Jansen High School and went on to enlist in the U. S. Navy where he served as a stock clerk and a member of the fire fighting brigade on LST-1071 during the Korean Conflict. He held the National Defense Service Medal for his service.
Zim enjoyed hunting and fishing in his youth. After he got out of the service, he was employed as a truck driver for Table Talk Pies and was an active member of the Teamsters Union. He and his wife, Nancy, moved to New Hampshire in 1992.
Zim is survived by a son, Robert, of Brockton, Mass. and by his daughter, Nancy Susan Bowser, and her husband, Jeff, and Zim’s two grandchildren, Jennifer Bowser of Franklin, N.H. and Jason Bowser, of Medford, Mass. as well as his great granddaughter, Rachael Carroll, of Franklin, N.H. Zim was predeceased by his wife, Nancy.
There will be no calling hours, only a private family service.
