Obituary

GLOUCESTER: Joseph M. Araujo, 40, died Saturday, July 11, 2009 at his home following a long battle with diabetes.
Born in Gloucester on June 2, 1969, he was the son of Edward G. and Josephine M. (Orlando) Araujo of Gloucester. He was a lifelong resident of Gloucester and a graduate of Gloucester High School.
In addition to his parents, Joe is survived by his son, Nathaniel A. Araujo of Gloucester, a sister, Lynda J. Araujo of Petaluma, CA, two special nieces, Talia and Isabella Martin both of Petaluma, special aunts and uncles, Lucille and Robert Diamond and Joseph and Diane Orlando all of Gloucester and among his many cousins are, Michele Hayes of Gloucester, Jennifer Scala-McGrath and her three sons, Anthony, Stephen and Nicholas of Concord, NH and Bobbi-Jo and her husband, Benjamin Orlando of Gloucester and his maternal grandmother, Jennie Orlando of Gloucester. He was predeceased by his paternal grandparents, Eddie and Priscilla Araujo, maternal grandfather, Anthony Orlando and an aunt and uncle, Ann and Raymond Scala.
His funeral service will be held on Friday, July 31st in the Calvary Cemetery, Gloucester at 10 a.m. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend. There are no visiting hours. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in his memory to the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation, 60 Walnut St., Wellesley, MA 02481.
