Maria Rosaria Ventura, Age 85 of Fall River, passed away July 24, 2009. Widow of Manuel A. Lopes and Companion of Manuel Nunes for 25 yrs. Born in Lagoa, Sao Miguel, Azores and raised in Terceira, Azores, daughter of the late Alvaro do Rego and Maria Espirito Santo (Rego) Ventura. She lived in the U.S. since 1969 & was a resident of Fall River for 14 yrs. formerly living in Stoughton. Before retiring, she was an Assembler at J.J. Corrugated Box Co.
Besides her companion, she is survived by 5 Children: Manuel A. Lopes of Stoughton; Joao Lopes of Terceira, Azores; Eurico Lopes of Canada; Fatima Lopes of New Bedford; and Duarte Lopes of Brockton. 1 Brother: Alvaro Ventura of Stoughton. 3 Sisters: Maria Laureano of Stoughton; Carmelinda Butler of NJ and Emilia Ventura of Lisbon, Portugal. 3 step children: Ann Fernandes of Fall River, Emmanuel Nunes of Berkley, & Louis Nunes of Dighton. 10 Grandchildren. 7 Great Grandchildren. Many nieces & nephews. She was also mother of the late Fernando Lopes, and sister of the late Manuel & Louis Ventura, Fernanda Deranger and Maria dos Anjos Rodrigues.
Her funeral will take place from the MANUEL ROGERS & SONS FUNERAL HOME, 1521 N. Main St. MONDAY at 8:00 A.M. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Michael Church at 9:00 A.M. Interment in Notre Dame Cemetery. Calling hours SUNDAY 5-8 P.M.
