Obituary

LOWELL - Patricia L. "Pat" Wise, 70, a lifelong resident of Lowell, died Thursday July 23rd, surrounded by her loving family at D'Youville Senior Care in Lowell, after a long courageous battle with cancer. She was the beloved wife of Ralph E. Wise, to whom she was married for 51 years.

She was born Lowell on May 27, 1939, and she was a daughter of the late Thomas and Mary (Gougerty) Sullivan. She received her education in Lowell schools and was a graduate of Lowell High School, class of 1956. Later in life, and while raising three children, she continued her studies at the Lowell Trade School, where she became a Licensed Practical Nurse.

Pat was employed for 35 years as a Licensed Practical Nurse by D'Youville Senior Care in Lowell. Her career working with the elderly and training and mentoring other nurses was her passion. She continued this work up until her diagnosis in February of 2008.

She was a communicant of the Parish of St. Rita in Lowell and was a member of the church's Women's Sodality. She was also a member of the D'Youville Senior Care Women's Guild and she was an Associate of the Sisters Charity of Ottawa.

In her free time she enjoyed trips to Foxwood Casino with her sister Maureen, reading, and knitting. She also loved to spend time with her family and friends, especially her close friend Dot Bowles, who's care and friendship meant the world to Pat.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Richard and Carol Wise of Dracut and Gary and Laura Wise of Hudson, NH; a daughter and son-in-law, Sharon and John Cole of Dracut; ten grandchildren, Richard Wise, Jr., Kevin Wise, Meghan Maraghy, Jennifer Cole, John Cole, Matt Cole, Samantha Wise, Courtney Wise, Julie Wise, and Danny Wise; two sisters Maureen Ferrari of Lynn and Judith McDermott and her husband Henry of North Andover; two special friends, Dot Bowles and Kathy Gagan, both of Lowell; and many nieces and nephews.

She was also the sister of the late Donna Dickey and the sister-in-law of the late Robert Dickey and Robert Ferrari.

Pat's family would like to thank the staff and residents of D'Youville Senior Care for the love, compassion, and care that they gave to her.

Friends may call at the DRACUT FUNERAL HOME, 2159 Lakeview Avenue, DRACUT, on Sunday from 4 until 8 PM. Her Funeral will be held from the funeral home on Monday at 10 AM, followed by her Funeral Mass to be celebrated at 11 AM at the Parish of St. Rita on Mammoth Rd. in Lowell. Interment in St. Joseph Cemetery in Chelmsford. Those who wish, may make donations in her name to the D'Youville Foundation, 981 Varnum Avenue, Lowell, MA 01854.
