Obituary

Wilcox, Reta Catherine (Lynch)- died peacefully on July 22, 2009. Formerly of Winchester and Youville Place, Lexington. 93 years. Wife of the late Walter E. Wilcox. Daughter of the late Eugene V. and Harriet A. Langdon Lynch. Cousin of Catherine I. Stevens of Needham. Reta worked as an advertising artist for various Department Stores in Boston and did the first ads for the Brides Shop on Newbury St., Boston. Reta made sketches of children’s and adults’ outfits for newspaper ads in the Boston Globe for 35 years. Reta was a past member of The Lexington Arts and Crafts Society. She developed great skill in doing miniatures, pottery, stoneware on the wheel which she fired in a kiln; she also worked with pastels and made silver jewelry. Reta was a long time avid fan of the Boston Red Sox. Funeral from the Costello Funeral Home, 177 Washington St., Winchester on Sat. July 25th @ 10:30AM followed by a Mass of Christian Burial celebrating Reta’s life at St. Eulalia’s Church, 50 Ridge St., Winchester @ 11AM. Visiting hours will be held in the funeral home Sat. from 9:30-10:30AM only. Interment Woodbrook Cemetery, Woburn. Donations in Reta’s memory may be made to St. Eulalia’s Church, 50 Ridge St, Winchester, MA 01890 or to Youville Place, 10 Pelham Rd., Lexington, MA 02420
