Obituary

CLARENCE A. JERMYN, of Punta Gorda, Florida, formerly of Hingham, died on Tuesday, July 21st, 2009 at the Tidewell Hospice in Port Charlotte, FL. He was 89. Mr. Jermyn was born and raised in Hingham and was a 1938 graduate of Weymouth Vocational High School. He served with the United States Army Air Corps during World War II. He was an engineer for 33 years with the New England Telephone Co. and was also a private airplane pilot for 58 years. Mr. Jermyn was a member of Old Colony Masonic Lodge in Hingham and a life member of the Peace River Telephone Pioneers in Florida.

He was the husband of the late Shirley J. (Martin) Jermyn and father of Lee Allston Jermyn of Boston, Claire Jermyn Testa of Quincy, Joy Jermyn Flowers of Hingham and the late Lynn A. Jermyn. Brother of Carolyn J. Johnson of Marion, the late Hazel J. Hersey and the late Howard G. Jermyn, Jr. Grandfather of Richard Testa and his wife Tara of Abington and Danielle Testa of Quincy. Great Grandfather of Cameron and Elsie Testa both of Abington. Also survived by many nieces and nephews.

A Masonic Service by Old Colony Lodge of Hingham and family Funeral Service will be conducted on Sunday, July 26th at 5 PM at the Downing Cottage Funeral Chapel, 21 Pond St., Hingham.

Friends may visit at the Downing Chapel prior to the services from 2- 5 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the Alzheimers Association, 311 Arsenal St., Watertown, MA 02472 or to The Edward Ball Cole American Legion Post # 120, P.O. Box 72, Hingham, MA 02043.

The interment is to be private.
