Obituary

Randy Lee Williams, 55, of Tifton died Tuesday, July 21, 2009, in Lakeland. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, July 24, 2009, at Welcome Hill Church of Christ in Quitman. Rev. Anthony Dean will officiate with burial to follow in Welcome Hill Church of Christ Cemetery. Allen Hutto, Carlos Dean, Jason Stowe, Justin Parks, Jermey Dean and Ray Knight will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Wayne Graham and Brandon Graham. The family will receive friends on Thursday, July 23, 2009, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals.

Mr. Williams was born on December 20, 1953 in Quitman, where he was raised. and was the son of Elbert B. Williams and Juanita Spell Williams, both deceased. He was also preceded in death by three brothers, Berry Williams, Charles Williams and James Williams; and two sisters and brothers-in-law, Vera and Gene Peacock and Martha and Harold Suttles. He was a mechanic and worked for several local garages. He was a member of Welcome Hill Church of Christ in Quitman. He had only been living in Lakeland for the past 3 weeks.

Mr. Williams is survived by his companion of 24 years, Barbara Dorden of Lakeland; two daughters and sons-in-law, Amanda Meeks and Chris Polke of Lyons and Hope and Jason Porter of Valdosta; two step-daughters and their spouses, Tina and Allen Hutto of Lakeland and Marie and Mike Turnmire of Tifton; one brother and sister-in-law, Gerald and Vivian Williams of Quitman; three sisters and brothers-in-law, Evalina and Kenneth Taylor of Quitman, Madeline and Sonny Guess of Quitman and Carol and Tim Sherley of Quitman; nine grandchildren, Tyonna Polke, Jacob Lee Porter and Jayden Lee Porter, who were named after their Papa, Calimb Lamar Deal, Quincy Jordan Hutto, Landon Allen Cane Hutto, Madeline Alexzandria Turnmire, Kelsey Sheryl Turnmire and Gaven Shane Turnmire; three step grandchildren, Bethany Hutto, Kasie Hutto and Cierra Hutto; two sisters-in-law, Peggy Williams and Kathy Williams.
