Dorothy F. (Maxim) Vaughan, 89, of Mattapoisett died Sunday July 19, 2009 at Tobey Hospital after a long illness. She was the wife of the late Carleton F. Vaughan.
Born in Weymouth, the daughter of the late Elmer W. and Doris L. (Leonard) Maxim, she lived in Mattapoisett most of her life.
Mrs. Vaughan was formerly employed as a registered nurse.
She was a graduate of Wareham High School. She was a member of the Marion Grange.
Survivors include four sons, Carleton F. Vaughan of Londonderry, NH, Warren E. Vaughan of Tulsa, OK, Allen W. Vaughan of Stafford, VA, and Milton A. Vaughan of Newhall, IA; five sisters, Edith Matthews of Middleboro, Lucy Fearing of Mattapoisett, Bessie Lindenmuth of Millersville, MD, Susan Westgate of West Wareham, and Elizabeth Rae Williams of Mattapoisett; ten grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
She was the sister of the late Nathan L. Maxim and Elmer W. Maxim.
Her Committal Service will be held on Saturday at 11 AM at Cushing Cemetery. Visiting hours are omitted.
