Mrs. Diane M. Toomey, age 51 of Reading, formerly of Medford died Monday in Winchester Hospital following a lengthy illness. She is the wife of William T. Toomey Sr. with whom she shared more than 23 years of marriage. Mrs. Toomey was born in Medford, daughter of the late George and Marie (Gagnon) Catino. A Medford resident until 1998, she worked as a Biographical Coordinator for Tufts University. She loved spending time at York Beach ME. and Wingarsheek Beach. She enjoyed collecting sand dollars and starfish. She will be remembered as a wonderful Italian cook and one who loved to crochet. An animal lover, she had a bulldog named “Bosco”, her favorite time of the year was Christmas. She was an avid fan of her son’s sporting events and could be called a tireless Hockey and LaCrosse Mom. In addition to her husband, she leaves 2 sons, William T. Toomey Jr. and Shawn Toomey both of Reading. Two sisters Carol Foley and her husband Brian of Billerica, Karen Mason and her husband Adam Bajgrowicz of Salem, NH. Predeceased by a brother, George Catino. At the family’s request, visiting hours have been omitted. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated in St. Clement Church, 71 Warner Street, Medford, Thursday at 10 AM.
