William Oliveira a/k/a Guilherme Oliveira, age 78 of Somerset, passed away July 19, 2009 in Fall River. Husband of Florentina (Silva) Oliveira to whom he was married for 51 years. Born in Santo Antonio alem Capelas, Sao Miguel, Azores, son of Joao Guilherme and Rosa (Gonsalves) Oliveira. Before retiring, he was Owner of Jack’s Market and Oliveira’s Package in Fall River, and J&J Bottling in New Bedford. He lived in Brazil for 20 yrs. and owned several businesses. William was a parishioner of St. Michael Church and a member of the Charismatic Prayer Group. He was a member of the Fall River Chamber of Commerce, and the Fall River Grocer’s Assoc.
Besides his wife, he is survived by: 3 Daughters: Maria Fatima Gonsalves and husband George, Marcia Medeiros and husband Manuel S. both of Somerset, and Tania Da Rosa and husband Jose of Swansea. 6 Brothers: Alvaro Oliveira of Somerset, Agnelo & Antera Oliveira both of Berkley, Octavio Oliveira of Fall River, Armando Oliveira of Assonet, and Horacio Oliveira of Dartmouth. 4 Sisters: Laura Viveiros and Lidia Oliveira both of Fall River, Matilde Oliveira of Somerset, and Emma Fornier of Berkley. 4 Grandchildren: Jeffrey Gonsalves, Nelson Medeiros, Robert & Vanessa Da Rosa. 1 Great Granddaughter: Destiny (Ennis) Da Rosa. Several Godchildren, nieces & nephews. Brother of the late Joao & Gilberto Oliveira.
His funeral will take place from the Manuel Rogers & Sons Funeral Home; 1521 N. Main St. on FRIDAY at 9:30 A.M. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Michael Church at 10:30 AM. Interment in Notre Dame Cemetery. Calling hours THURSDAY 5-9 P.M.
