George G. Wilson
Martinez, GA – George G. Wilson, 81, husband of the late Beryl Wilson, entered into rest on Thursday July 16, 2009 at his residence.
A funeral service will he held at 11:00 AM on Monday July 20, 2009 at First Baptist Church of Evans with Rev. Steve Spencer officiating. Burial will follow at Westover Memorial Park. Mr. Wilson will lie in state one hour prior to service.
George was a resident of Augusta for the past 60 years. He was served in the Air Force and was a WWII veteran. George worked for Daniels Construction as a pipe fitter. In his spare time he loved working on cars in his garage. George never met a stranger and would always help his friends. He thoroughly enjoyed watching Nascar and being with his friends at the South Augusta McDonalds Breakfast Club.
Survivors include one son; Michael Wilson (Melanie) of Martinez, GA, one daughter; Maryln Moore (Bo) of Evans, GA, one brother; Ernest Wilson of Greensboro, GA, three sisters; Shirley Anderson of Woodville, GA, Erie Brinkley of Madison, GA, Jean Nichols of North Augusta, SC, two grandchildren Michael Brandon Wilson (Kristen), Wesley Frank Moore, and one great grandchild; Brandon Gage Wilson. In addition to his wife, Mr. Wilson was preceded in death by his parents; the late Dank Wilson and Elsie Hensley Wilson, and his sister; the late Myrtie Rea Taylor.
Pallbearers will be Billy Dixon, Garry Guest, Mark Nichols, Leonard Tymer, and grandson; Wesley Moore, and Brandon Wilson. Honorary pallbearers will be Billy Lassiter and the South Augusta McDonalds Breakfast Club.
The family will receive friends on Sunday July 19, 2009 from 2:00 PM until 5:00 PM.
