Charles N. West, Jr., 69 of Mattapoisett died July 15, 2009 at Tobey Hospital peacefully after a brief illness.
He was the husband of Catherine J. (Heuberger) West.
Born in New Bedford, the son of the late Charles N. and Marjorie (Dexter) West, he lived in Mattapoisett all of his life.
Mr. West was formerly employed by Brownell Hydraulic Trailers for 25 years until retirement. Prior to that, he was employed at Hoyt Manufacturing.
He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. Mr. West was an avid antique car enthusiast and enjoyed building car and truck models.
Survivors include his wife; a son, Charles N. West, III and his partner Julie Lewis of Rochester; a daughter, Christine L. Simmons and her partner Lawrence Arruda of Fairhaven; a brother, Warren G. West of Texas; 4 grandchildren, Scott R. Simmons, Jr., Hannah, Christopher and Amy Arruda; several nieces and nephews.
Visiting hours Monday from 5-8 PM in the Saunders-Dwyer Mattapoisett Home For Funerals, 50 County Rd. (Rt. 6) Mattapoisett. His funeral procession will form at Ned's Point on Tuesday, July 21st at 10 AM followed by his Graveside Service in Cushing Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to the charity of one's choice.
