James R. Yankun, 65 years of Brockton died unexpectedly July 12, 2009. He was the husband of the late Janet C. (Thomas) Yankun. Born and raised in Boston he was the son of the late Felix and Anna (Oback) Yankun and had been a resident of Brockton since 1965. He was a Vietnam Army veteran and for many years had been employed as a machinist at Boston Gear Works. Jim enjoyed camping, taking long drives, walks along the Cape Cod Canal and time spent with his grandsons.
He is survived by his three daughters Christine Strang and her husband Steven of Wareham, Barbara Slack and her husband George of Holbrook and Michelle Nolan and her husband Mark of Raynham and five grandsons George Slack IV, Brodi Nolan, Kyle Nolan, Andrew Slack and Jerid Nolan.
Visiting Hours will be held in the Conley Funeral Home, 138 Belmont Street (Rte 123) Brockton, Wednesday 2-4 and 6-8pm. A Graveside Service will be held at a later date in Cedar Knoll Cemetery, Taunton.
