Monica R. (Sullivan) O’Hare, 75 years old, the wife of the late John F. O’Hare, died peacefully Friday morning at her Alexandria, VA. Home surrounded by her loving family.
Born in Lowell on August 28, 1933, she was a daughter of the late Joseph E. and Helen M. (Reynolds) Sullivan. She was a graduate of Notre Dame Academy and attended Trinity College and was a graduate of Merrimack College.
Mrs. O’Hare taught elementary school in the Waltham school system and during the course of her marriage lived in Belmont, MA, Waterville, ME, Keene, NH and Scottsdale, AZ. She loved playing the piano, traveling and was a deeply devoted Catholic.
She is survived by her loving children, Elizabeth O’Hare and her husband Louis Soares of Alexandria, VA, Vincent O’Hare and his fiancé Kristin Heldt of Phoenix, AZ, and Stephen O’Hare and his wife Christy of Annapolis, MD; three grandchildren, Meghan O’Hare, Maya Soares and Luke O’Hare; two sisters and a brother in law, Margaret M. Shannon and her husband James and Helen M. McNamee all of Lowell; two brothers and eight sisters in law, Joseph E. Sullivan and his wife Genevieve of Lowell, the Honorable William H. Sullivan and his wife Peggy Ann of Falmouth, MA, Rita Sullivan of Centerville, MA, Elizabeth Sullivan, Naomi Sullivan both of Lowell, Sister Jeanne D’Arc O’Hare CSJ, Catherine Lind and Ann Smith and numerous nieces and nephews.
Mrs. O’Hare was also the mother of the late Michael J. O’Hare and the sister of the late Thomas R. Sullivan, Mary H. Sullivan, James H. Sullivan and Walter T. Sullivan.
O’HARE- Relatives and friends may call on Wednesday July 15, from 2 until 4 and 7 until 9 pm at the MAHONEY FUNERAL HOME, 187 NESMITH ST.(Rte.38) Lowell. Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated Thursday July 16 at 10 am at the IMMACULATE CONCEPTION CHURCH in Lowell. Burial in St. Mary’s Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations in her memory may be made to either the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation of Phoenix, 3800 N Central Ave #700, Phoenix, AZ. 85012 or the Lombardi Cancer Center, Georgetown University Hospital, 3800 Reservoir Road, Washington, DC 20057.
