Obituary

WEST BOYLSTON-Kevin J. Hickey, 62, of West Boylston, died Friday, July 10th in UMass Memorial Medical Center. He leaves two brothers, Francis R. Hickey, Jr. and his wife Patricia of Auburn and Robert P. Hickey and his wife Joyce of Montgomery, NY; five sisters, Sandra A. Cook and her husband Donald of Scituate, Sheila T. Raymond of Rochdale and her husband, the late Albert Raymond, Sharon P. McManus of Charlton, Cheryl Jalbert and her husband Daniel of Shrewsbury and Patricia D. Kneeland and her fiancée Gerald Boudreau of West Boylston; twenty nephews and nieces; and 37 grandnephews and grandnieces. His brother, Richard K. Hickey predeceased him.
Mr. Hickey was born in Worcester, the son of Francis R. and Doris G. (Becklund) Hickey. He was a 1966 graduate of South High School. Mr. Hickey was a baker for over 40 years, had been employed by Gerardo’s Bakery as head baker for over ten years, had previously owned Hickey’s Bakery in Auburn with his brother, Francis and had worked at Helen’s Bakery. He was a Vietnam War U.S. Navy veteran serving aboard the U.S.S. Hammerburg from 1966-1968, and later serving in the U.S. Naval Reserve. He enjoyed fishing and riding his motorcycle and loved his family.
The funeral is Friday, July 17th from O’CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 592 Park Avenue, Worcester with a Mass at 10:00 AM in Our Lady of the Angels Church, 1222 Main Street, Worcester. Burial will be in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton. A calling hour will be held Friday morning from 8:30 until 9:30 in the funeral home.
